Siesta Key Bridges Closed to Non-Residents and Visitors
Staff Report / sarasotalocal.org
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has announced that both the North and South Siesta Key Bridges will be closed to anyone who is not a resident or business owner. Individuals attempting to access Siesta Key will need to show identification to be permitted on the island.
This decision comes as rescue missions and safety assessments are ongoing in the area. Authorities have stated that non-residents and those without business interests are hindering rescue efforts, as many main roads remain impassable.
The Sheriff's Office has requested the public’s cooperation during this time. For more updates, residents can follow the Sarasota County Emergency Services on various social media platforms.
